In my last post I talked about creating a fun and festive workout to keep you motivated and involve your kids during the holidays. I made some suggestions about how to create holiday themed exercises, but thought it might be good to give you a list of ideas to add to your own.
- Jolly jumping jacks
- Reindeer prances (high knees around the room)
- Snowman melts (Squats)
- Ice Skaters
- Skiers
- Dancing elf (freestyle dance)
- Christmas tree (tree pose with arms extended into a point overhead)
- Snowball dodge (boxer weave)
- Santa shuffles
- Present presses (overhead shoulder press)
- Merry marches (make sure you’re smiling or you’re not doing it right)
- Grinchy gallops (don’t be afraid to make a grinchy face, makes it more fun)
- Christmas curtsies (curtsy lunge)
- Gift giver ( squat down, pretend to pick up a gift, raise back up to standing and extend the arms forward)
- Seated snowball throw (sit in a piked position on the floor, alternate twisting to each side pretending to pick up a snowball and throw in forward) Even more fun to pretend to throw it to a family member and the catch and throw it back. You could also use a tennis ball when working with a partner.
I hope you get a chance to try at least some of the above festive workout ideas. If so, let me know how it went. Did you get the kids involved? Did they have fun? I hope it make your workout more fun and seemed more like a game than just exercising for the sake of exercising.
