Number One Weight Loss Tip For Women

There are a lot of things you can change in your life to help you lose weight.  But, do you know what the best weight loss tip for women is? The best thing you can do is stay hydrated.  Everyone should be drinking at least 8 glasses (64 ozs) of water per day at the minimum. To get a more accurate amount of how much you personally need, divide your body weight in half, and that’s how many ounces you should have each day. If you are active that amount should be increased.

If you are feeling thirsty, then you are already dehydrated. So drink up, the water that is.  Sodas and other high sugar/ high calorie drinks don’t count they actually lead to dehydration. If you’re drinking sugary and caffeinated drinks, you’ll want to consume an extra glass of water for each cup of those that you consume. Also, if you’re consuming those types of drinks and want to weight loss is your goal, you should start replacing them with water to avoid extra empty calorie consumption.

How Hydration Leads to Weight Loss For Women

Water and Metabolism

Did you know that just drinking water can increase calorie burn?   Just drinking a glass of water can help you lose weight because water has zero calories, but you burn calories in order to process it through your body.  Also, drinking 16 ozs. of water can temporarily increase your metabolism by 25%. That’s a lot easier than fitting a workout in, don’t you think? Although, hopefully you’re doing that too.

Speaking of exercise, I think we already know that it’s on the list when we’re talking about weight loss tips for women, right? Moving burns calories and builds muscle mass. The more muscle mass you have the more your metabolism increases (you burn more calories on a regular basis).

Staying hydrated actually helps you increase energy levels too. This is important when it comes to working out because, who wants to workout when their energy is drained? Even if you do go ahead with your workout, you’re less likely to exercise at your full potential, because you just won’t have optimal energy to push through. Therefore, lack of water leads to less quality and quantity of exercise, which in turn leads to less calorie burn and less weight loss.

weight loss tip for women, take your water with you

Water and hunger

Our brains have a hard time deciphering between thirst and hunger. We often think we’re hungry when what we really need is water.  Hunger and dehydration can both cause symptoms like a growling stomach, low energy levels, and light headedness. That’s why it’s very common to mistake dehydration for hunger. Man people will opt for convenience foods when these feelings come on suddenly, Most convenience foods are know to be high in calories, but low in nutrients. Those are not the types of foods you want to consume when trying to lose weight.

Water also helps us feel fuller and in turn, do less unnecessary snacking and eat smaller portions at meal time.  Less snacking and smaller meals, equals less calorie consumption and increased weight loss.

Next time you think you’re hungry, go for the water instead and then see how you feel in 10-15 minutes.  You might want to try drinking a glass of water or two about 30 minutes before each meal too.

Water and Healthy Body Function

Women’s bodies are made up of about 60% water, so it makes sense that we need to stay hydrated in order for our bodies to function properly. When your body doesn’t have what it needs for proper functioning, it tends to go into maintenance mode. If your body is trying to maintain how it is, it’s not going to function in a way that makes it easy to lose extra fat.

Water also helps flush toxins from our bodies. If the toxins are not being flushed out, it leads to many common health issues including chronic inflammation. Chronic inflammation is a problem in itself as well as a trigger for other health issues. If the systems in our body are focusing their effort on combatting these other issues, it doesn’t become am optimal environment for weight loss.

So, make a plan to help you reach a goal of drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day. The great thing about staying hydrated is that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to follow this weight loss tip for women and it’s fairly easy to do.
