The Best Diet, for you

If you’ve ever searched for the perfect diet, the one that’s going to make the fat just melt away, then you’ve probably seen or heard about more diet plans than you could possible remember or try. There always seems to be some new fad diet that everyone is talking about. Some of them are very restrictive, cutting out whole food groups. Some of them require measuring and weighing everything you eat. Others allow you to have your meals delivered to you, so you don’t have to plan or prepare, just pay. You’ll even find some that require you to replace meals with juices or shakes. And some of them don’t require too much effort just a little planning and thought.

Have you tried any of these types of diets? Did they work for you? If they didn’t, it’s probably because they were too hard to maintain. Maybe they were to restrictive, you always felt hungry, it was too expensive, or you just didn’t like what you were required to eat/drink. It’s hard to stay motivated when it doesn’t fit into your lifestyle or the diet is making you uncomfortable. Even if it worked for you in the beginning, it might be too hard to maintain and you end up going back to your previous way of eating. This usually leads to feelings of failure and frustration and searching for the next diet to try. It can be an endless frustrating cycle if you keep encountering the same problems each time.

How do you find the perfect diet?

If you’re tired of the endless cycle of tried and failed diets, then you need to change your mindset first. Start thinking about food as a way to fuel your body and make you healthier, not how can I eat in the short term to make me lose weight quickly. You need to start thinking about adding foods to your diet that offer you benefits, not just calories that make you feel full for a little while. And you might need to start lessening the foods/drinks that offer you no real nutritional benefits, like sodas and candy. If eliminating all “junk” food seems impossible to you, do it gradually. Make a plan to take one or two things out of your diet that you know aren’t good for you, or just start by reducing portion sizes and frequency.

Everybody has different tastes and reasons that they eat the way they do. You first have to be motivated to change your habits for the long run. If it’s not that important to you, you’re going to fail. If you feel like you’re restricting yourself too much, you’re probably going to give into temptations and give up. The only real way to make it work is to make small changes gradually until healthier eating becomes a habit. Healthier eating needs to become a lifestyle change for life, not just a phase for quick results. It might not be easiest or quickest way, but if you do it the right way you will be more likely to get results that you can maintain and eliminate the cycle of failure and frustration that the fad diets generally lead to.

So, the simple answer is, the best diet is the one that you can maintain and comfortably live with throughout your life. There’s no magic solutions. You have to eat healthy, to be and feel healthy. If you want more helpful tips on healthy eating comment below.
